Sports Massage

Sports massage is designed to prevent and relieve injuries and conditions that are associated with exercise. It can often be quite strenuous and is meant to relieve and reduce the stress and tension that can build up within the body’s soft tissues while exercising.

It can be carried out before, during, or after playing sport or exercising and uses techniques that are designed to increase endurance and performance, to minimise the chances of injury and, if there is an injury, to reduce the recovery time.

Pregnancy

Massage can decrease stress and improve relaxation, improve lymph drainage, benefit muscle tone and elasticity and have a balancing effect on glands, all of which are of huge benefit during pregnancy. Also during the later months of pregnancy the growing uterus inhibits lymph drainage from the legs. Regular massage helps stimulate the lymph system preventing the build-up of wastes and lymph fluid from occurring.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is designed to alleviate chronic pain, injury and painful or disease related conditions. Home exercises may be given. It's more than a back rub - it first looks at your posture, then your history, initial complaint (what caused it), your lifestyle and personal information. Then taking a look at the region seeing if there is any overt pain with movement, a treatment plan can be professionally recommended. Remedial massage can alleviate most pain originating from soft tissues such as, back ache, neck pain, sore feet, sore legs or shoulder pain.

Relaxation/Swedish Massage

Enjoy a relaxing Swedish massage that has been designed to promote general relaxation, improve your circulation as well as increase your range of motion and relieve muscle tension. Great for maintaining optimum wellness as it has a positive effect on all the body systems. Using relaxing massage uses a system of long gliding strokes, kneading, and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles, generally in the direction of blood flow toward the heart. This is sometimes combined with active and passive movements of the joints.

Deep Tissue

Using deep muscle compression and friction along the grain of the muscle, the purpose of Deep Tissue Massage is to unstick the fibres of the muscles and release both toxins and deeply held tension points. Specific hand positions and strokes are used to respond to various tissues while breath and movement techniques are employed to release muscular congestion. It helps to loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly. It is both corrective and therapeutic. It is beneficial for many physical problems, including sports injuries and chronic pain. Because it works very deeply, emotional issues can also be addressed, when these have been stored in the body.

Active Release

Active Release Technique (ART) is a new and extremely efficient treatment for most types of soft tissue injury, whether from shock, repetitive motion, or athletics. During a typical healing session, the Active Release Technique practitioner first watches the client in action, and then feels for injured soft-tissue with his fingers. It is designed to relieve the muscles that surround the joints by incorporating various nerve entrapment release techniques. Active Release Technique also aims to bring back soft tissue structures that feel tensed to their original and strong conditions.
